Traffic Studies – Experience

EPR staff have extensive experience with the full spectrum of traffic operations analysis. EPR’s two senior traffic engineers are both PTOE’s (Professional Traffic Operation Engineer - ITE certification) and are supported by two senior professional engineers with specific experience conducting traffic studies and evaluations. Staff experience includes multimodal corridor studies, corridor operation studies, interchange analyses and design, pedestrian plans, bicycle and pedestrian accessibility plans, travel demand forecasting, and the full spectrum of analyses ranging from signal warrant studies to spot speed studies. This experience includes work in environments ranging from heavily congested urban areas (such as Alexandria and Tysons Corner, VA) to more suburban and rural settings. EPR staff are well versed in all applicable design criteria manuals including the MUTCD, AASHTO, ITE, and AARP recommended design guidelines recent VDOT study guidelines (Chapter 527, SSAR), and the VDOT Road Design Manual. EPR’s professional engineers have a great depth of experience running operational analysis software packages such as Highway Capacity Software, Synchro, Sidra, Transyt-7F, and Corsim. In conducting traffic studies, EPR’s staff always provide recommendations that are in accordance with accepted design standards and are sensitive to the context of the surrounding transportation system and land uses.
